Izabela Chamczyk´s art is a study on the metabolism of emotions and experiences driving the existence of an artwork as organism. She asks for limits of vitality and death and the survival instinct in a world of dichotomy. Each artwork is as a vivid transfusion of vital fluids generating the energies of the artworks body – tactile, sensual, in constant action and reaction to its inherent emotions and relations with the environment; breathing, trembling, pulsating, turning inside out… All those processes are precisely accompanied and enhanced by the artist with an utmost sensual severity. Yet, respectful to the artworks intimacy – The woman occurs as the guardian of natural movements. But without any tenderness or erotic – she stays distanced and lets things happen.“My art activity is beyond the physical object and is reaching the human body directly through the touch, the taste and the other senses. The observation of the processuality is for me the most important part of my art journey. Art is alive. I am not interested in vacant aesthetics. In my pictures I’m turning on the process of crystallization, rotting, growing, dying, destruction, drying, breaking, racking, smelling. Objects, which I create, are often breaking and the audience has the possibility to participate in this process – through the touch, formation, deformation or just by observation of the changes. A simple artistic act is the essence, the whole coming out, not only the final stage of the process, rather the time of creation, not just merely the object. I’m inspired by unknown areas, crossing borders, getting satisfaction from little experiences, creating extreme situations and pushing emotions to the limits – subtle and at the same time disarming. The base of all my action is our human constitution placed in a fragile continuum of time.” Photo of Artist: Adam Gut.
